Soccer Season
Soccer season started several weeks ago and though I dread the commitment, I think it's great for Tianna. She learns about being a dependable team player, sportsmanship and it gives her something to do other than watch tv. This is her second year with AYSO. She plays in the U12 division and her team is called "The Pineapple Express". They've had two practice games already with them trailing by several points.
Tianna has areas of improvement:
Dribbling - when she gets the ball, I sense her panic. She immediately kicks the ball away from her, instead of dribbling it forward or passing it to a team mate.
Offsides and how to use it to your advantage - why is it that I can never understand this term? Neither does half her team mates. What is the dummie's definition for this term? So I found a graphical explanation on youtube by SportSpectator.com.
Position/Formations - although she knows the positions, she doesn't understand how she should be moving while the play is in action.
Her strengths:
Energy - she is a fast and a burst of energy on the field. Though smaller frame than the opponents, she is quick to get to the ball
Endurance - she's all energy and rarely tires. She also endures pain
I would like for her to learn soccer and improve. Some of the tips I got from SportSpectator.com is to have her watch soccer, pick a team and follow it, watch soccer with a team mate. I'll try my best to keep her motivated in the sport, but sometimes I wish her dad, an avid soccer player, was around to teach her.
