Signs

I found my first gray hair this morning. It was in the back of my head, so I hadn't noticed it and I'm sure others weren't going to point it out. I tried to pull it out but it was painful, so I ended up cutting it off. Unfortunately, an inch of it is still hanging out of my head

Thinning hair... nizoral? nioxin? minoxidil?

After two months of 3-4 days of spin and/or treadmill, I have not lost any weight. How is that possible?

My daughter turns ten in two months.

My mind has been doing memory dumps-- forgetting names, etc.

The other day I forgot how to play Mahjong..

WhizKids

I am pretty excited about a side job I just landed. It's a programming instructor position at WhizKids. I will be teaching three beginners Visual Basic.Net classes for 9-12 year olds during Spring Break.

It's challenging to teach a bunch of rambunctious 9-12 year olds let alone teaching them how to code. Fortunately, the class size will be small. My patience will be put to the test, but I'm elated!! I love programming and this seems to be a perfect fit.

To keep them entertained, I am considering some simple game programming like Tic Tac Toe, Magic Eight Ball or Hang Man. I'll need to work on a lesson plan.

On a side note, I was thinking out loud tonight that in this kind of economy, one should pick a career that actually can pay the rent instead of one that makes you happy. With that said, I wish I had gone to medical school :(

Gravatar

I ran across Gravatar today (Where have I been??):
"A gravatar is simply an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things."

Kusocartoon - Upload a picture of yourself to convert to cartoon
PlanetCreate - Create a cartoon of yourself

I've been testing this on blogs online and it works great. Now I just need to get another better looking gravatar.

Rewards

"As part of plan to spend $50B on foreclosure prevention, administration considers using taxpayer dollars to cut payments for troubled homeowners"

GE workers paid $750 to quit smoking

Cash-Strapped Calif. Taxpayers Supporting Octuplet Mom

I've been in an irascible disposition lately. I think it's because of headlines like the ones above. Doesn't it seem like they are rewarding people who made bad judgement? How about a little **reward** for those staying current on their mortgage and those who don't already smoke??

What I learned today

Did everyone know this but me?

That you can lock the ends in place so it doesn't go rolling out of the box? A co-worker emailed this to us today and I went straight home and locked all my Saran and Reynolds wrap.

Photoshop

As you can tell, I've been Photoshop'n. I found a cool way to cartoonize photo's. It's easy and quick. Involves the liquify tool to exaggerate features, some stylize diffusion, smart pen and surface blur .... and voila!

Christian Bale

I misplaced my keys the other morning. It took over half an hour before I found it. In that time, I was spewing out all the four letter cuss words I knew.

Population Control

Steelers win the Superbowl.... Phelps caught with bong.... Blackberry's for toddlers - just some news this weekend. But today's headlines "Two children should be limit" really caught me by storm.

COUPLES who have more than two children are being “irresponsible” by creating an unbearable burden on the environment

Johnathon Porritt, who has two kids of his own states "population growth through contraception and abortion must be at the heart of policies to fight global warming. "

These global warming extremists!!! Government needs to stay out of our private lives.

Here is something just as extreme that I would like to offer: stop funding for AA groups, Drug rehabilitation programs and stop-smoking programs. Let these people die of lung cancer and liver damage. Why should our tax dollars fund these programs? These people had a choice to not smoke, not take drugs, not abuse alcohol! Murderers, thieves, child molesters! Why should child molesters be allowed to contribute to the environmental footprint?

I don't feel I have a right to tell someone to keep or abort their child. However, if you're going to have more kids than you can afford, you can't simply expect the government to support you. On the other hand, I don't believe it's the government's job to dicate how many kids one should have to control population all in the name of "Global Warming".
