Happy Thanksgiving

This will be my first attempt at roasting a turkey and preparing all the side dishes. Unfortunately, I've been the dessert lady the last several years so this will be interesting. I looked up several recipes online and opted for Alton Brown's recipe from the food network . It involves a 6 hour brining process that should soften the turkey.

I thought this might be an interesting item for the home as conversation starters. Too often I find that "How was your day?" "Good, and yours" are the only conversation we are having lately. Our dinner conversations have really degraded over the last several months. But not just for the home.. I'm such a horrible conversationalists. Maybe this stack of cards will prep me for the myriad Holiday parties just around the corner.

I ran across this word while reading "Atonement" and had to look it up. I've never heard or seen this word used before. I have always referred to that as a valance or a thingamagig.
