"When you aspire for something with passion, all the universe conspires to make it happen..."

I have been meaning to fix my blog for days now, but I have been overwhelmed with work, consulting gigs and most recently --- "escrow". Yes, yes.. after months of searching for a place to buy, I am finally happy to announce that I am in "escrow"!!

The process of searching for a home in my "price" range took months. In Santa Barbara, I couldn't even afford a mobile home. The housing prices are outrageous. Who can afford living here? I met with lots of lenders who could squeeze me into a one bedroom condo with creative financing, but I am sure glad I didn't go that route.

Attempts after attempts to win the lottery failed. I read somewhere about people who won the lottery twice!! My search eventually led me to Arroyo Grande, an hour and a half north of Santa Barbara. After an initial upsetting rejection on an offer I made, I felt defeated and almost gave up. However, last week, I made another offer on a tri-level three bedroom condo and it was accepted. I might be feasting solely on Top Ramen for the next year or so and the commute will be straining, but at least I'm a homeowner (fingers crossed - escrow should close by end of Aug).

Growing up I always envision buying a home was something you did together with your spouse. Lots of opportunities went by and I didn't buy when I should have back in the early 2000. I realize now I can't wait for Mr. Right to come along and whisk me off into a five bedroom home with white a picket fence. I am going to do that myself :)
