Ahh..Back in the saddle again...

It's been over 2 months!! This weekend, I had to make up for lost time. I went flying over the weekend and this afternoon. Bit of a right crosswind when taxiing down the runway!!
We flew over Pismo Beach and I took some pics of the dunes. Today, we were practicing emergency procedure over the dunes. Not as crowded as over the weekend. Good thing - in case we had to make an emergency landing. I like to try riding in the dunes. It looks like a lot of fun. I might give it shot this weekend. Although, I might have to find someone a little more experienced to go with me or I might get toppled over by one of those dune buggies. Wow, they start out at an average of $90/hr. OUCH! the ATV's are a lot less expensive. Sharron, girl, where are you when I need you??
My landings are still shaky. I need more practice! I also went under the hood and practiced flying by instruments for a while. I did better than I thought I would. Our next flight, we will probably practice touch and go's at the Paso Robles Airport - less wind activity.
Total Hours to Date: 20.0

Was that YOU who buzzed us? I thought for sure my hair was going to get caught in your propeller. Sure was exciting, though! If you don't believe that I was there, just take a look at the photo. I'm the guy with the white shirt on, 3rd guy from the left. Next to the trailer. Still can't see me? OK, I'm wearing flip flops. Yup! That's me!

Very funny.. the pic was actually around 500-600 feet. :)

Ah, I was wondering how your flying was going. You've been kind of quiet lately. Glad you're back at it.

Nice picture. I think it would be cool to ride around ON the dunes, not OVER them:)

Over them is waaayyy fun! On them is Okay until you crash.... And you really gotta watch out for the Dune Buggies, Trucks, Jeeps etc..
Glad to see you're flying again. You'll like touch an go's at Paso. Huge Runway, but go early, can be pretty gusty in the afternoon. Unless of course it's 100+ then the wind never blows.
So when are you taking you're written ? Maybe I'll start sending you a question for the day to practice.

Chris - that is awfully kind and thoughtful of you to offer. I appreciate it. Please shoot me an email with the questions. That will really help a lot.
I was supposed to take the test a couple of weeks ago, but I got overwhelmed with work. I am going to give myself another two weeks of review.
And.. there's the experienced person I was talking about. You and your girls still going out there (Dunes?)

Aymiee -
Naw, I quite riding ATV's a long time ago. Something about broken bones and the screws it took to put 'em back together ...
I'll start sending you some questions. If you want to spend a few hours at Starbucks or Malibu Brew reviewing for the test let me know.
And study the automated weather formats, being able to decode them is a must for the test. Weather, Weather, Weather ....and Navigation and the FARS and Airspace and .... (the list seems like it's almost infinite huh ?)

Hey Leslie! How you doing! Good to hear from you. I am still awestruck over your home ordeal. I am sorry you have to go through it... but what you said rings true:
"There are lessons in every painful moment in life. The hard part is taking the time to learn those lessons. "
I will be looking forward to reading those lessons.

That is so deep, I am glad you said that Leslie.
Aymiee, I love the picture, I have never been able to take that quality of photos while inside a plane.

I'm right here my friend! I would love to give you a lesson or two. Is it the buggies that are $90/hr or the ATV'S? I never thought about renting them, but what a great idea.
at 4:34 PM
Sharron, the dune buggies.. yeah, I don't think I will be buying any of them anytime in the next decade. Renting is my only option.
