Clunk.. Clunk... ...splat!
Okay, seriously, I must have wronged someone in a prior life because this week has been the ultimate payback week! It's a good thing I have a sense of humour...
Let me give you some brief history. Several months ago I ran into a fawn. The result was: broken head light and dead fawn :(. A couple months later I ran into a coyote. the result was: torn bumper and dead coyote :(. I dropped a couple hundred to fix the broken head light, but the quote for the bumper was astronomical so I did what any other "frugal" person would do in my situation. I bought some bungee cords and attached the broken bumper back unto my car.
While driving home today (and yes, I gassed up at work), and singing at the top of my lungs to stay awake, I heard "Clunk...Clunk...". A flat tire? Noooo!! I was in the middle of nowhere. "No Service" was displayed on my cell phone. This could not be happening. I pulled over to the side and got out of my car to check all four wheels. They were solid. So I got back into my car and started driving. "Clunk..Clunk".. I stopped immediately and got out of the car. "Did I hit another animal?...was it caught underneath my car??"
I slowly got to my knees and looked underneath the car.... To my chagrin, something (pictured to the right)had unattached itself from under the vehicle and was hanging loose. I was relieved it wasn't a dead animal. I wasn't sure if I should drive home. What is this piece? and it is imperative to have? Oh well...what's another 50 miles?
I pulled out the piece, place it in the trunk, regain some composure and got back on the road. Okay, what else can you throw at me?
As I parked my car under the carport and went to open the door for the little princess, I looked down to see... a flat tire...
Times like this, I wished I had taken auto shop in highschool instead of sewing.
AND HOW WAS YOUR DAY?

Wow, Aymiee. You are having shitty luck this week and with your car, in general. Didn't insurance cover the first animal run-ins?
Poor thing. I hope you are treating yourself this weekend.

What IS that thing? You really need to join AAA. Your commute pretty much demands it. I consider myself astoishingly lucky to have lived in rural and suburban NY for my entire adult life without ever hitting a dear. A coyote did run into the side of my car once, bounced off and kept running, apparently keeping Roadrunner in his sights. Here in Florida, you mostly have to watch out for snakes, turtles and old ladies on tricycles. The reptiles won't break your headlights but those cute little ladies could cause some serious damage. Thankfully I've avoided all of them so far.

Yikes, that sounds ugly. I agree with Bud, definitely land an AAA membership with that commute you have going on.

Becky, Bud and Ben - Thanks, I need to start making some changes in my life concerning "transportation". Looks like I will be cutting back on other lessons for the time being and saving for replacement parts or another car ...and definitely AAA membership.

Oh ma gawwd! -
They say bad things happen in 3's... so I'd be lookin over my shoulder right about now!
I can' tell from the picture just what that could be, but I'd be a little concerned.
I'd at least take it to a mechanic & be sure it's safe to drive.
It could be something from the heater ducting, or maybe from the exhaust (probably not though..)
Does the car sound any different ? Louder ? Do the Heater & Air Conditioner still work ?
What caused the flat ?
Cheer up, things WILL get better!

Geez, you really are having a bad week. I'm gonna agree with Bud here...AAA is a service totally worth paying for. I've had it for about 10 years, thought it was a waste of money as I never used it, was gonna cancel it, then ended up needing it 3 times in the past year. The sight of that part falling off my car, would have definitely put me in a little bit of a panic, especially being in the middle of nowhere.
I hope your week gets better, soon!!!

Chris - I might take you up on the offer. Thanks for offering.
Sharron - whenever I need to do something I hate doing, I look to Lara Croft. A strong woman (like you, also) gives me motivation. So yes, I'll be making some phone calls (AAA, bumper, etc..) I need to get myself out of ghetto car world. I doubt I will buy a new car because I don't care for the car payment. Thanks for your kind words

Thank you Aymiee. I 'try' to be strong...but it's really harder then it sounds.
TGIF!!
