Norwegian Court Convicts First Woman for Rape

The 31-year-old man fell asleep on a sofa at a party in January last year and told the court in the western city of Bergen he woke to find the 23-year-old woman was having ........

It reminded me of a story a friend once told me. My friend claimed he was asleep when his ex-girlfriend broke into his home and seduced him. She became pregnant as a result of it and now he has to pay child support. Why does this sound cockamamie when the other way around would sound tragic?

---on a lighter note ---
Irregardless is not a word... it's redundant. The correct word is simply regardless. Fortunately, I am not guilty of using that word. I am guilty of making up new words: i.e. "Nuked" (naked + nude) and "Slammered" (stoned + hammered). At work, I found myself saying "Scoracle" (Scorecard + Oracle).

---on an even lighter note--
"It ain't over till it's over." - was coined by Yogi Berra. Quotes from Yogi that just cracks me up:

"I knew I was going to take the wrong train, so I left early."
"You should always go to other people's funerals; otherwise, they won't come to yours."
"I made a wrong mistake."
"Do you mean now?" -- When asked for the time.
"This is like deja vu all over again." <--my favorite

And this one is for BECKY: "If you come to a fork in the road, take it."

  • I love reading quotes. I sadly don't have a quote that would immediately make anyone think of me . . . but I'm working on it.

  • I'm of a mind that if you're female and resonably attractive, I won't report you for rape as long as you use a condom. Oh, and no broomsticks or anything like that.

  • Artha - you're young, you still got time...

Bud - reasonably attractive.. tsk tsk tsk.. so that's the catch?

  • Hehe. Those are great quotes, and thanks for the "advice." I also had it when people say "irregardless" and I must also add "supposably." However, if you know you are making up the word, then it's different.

  • Aymiee, "resonably attractive" just means not scare-the-shit-out-of-me ugly.
