Stuck In A Moment...
I read somewhere that this song was written for Bono's friend Michael Hutchence who had committed suicide. I didn't know this at the time and have always loved this song. Whenever I was depressed, this was one of those songs I would play over and over again. Sometimes, we get stuck in a moment and no matter what we do, we just can't get pass it.
I'm not afraid of anything in this world
There's nothing you can throw at me that I haven't already heard
I'm just trying to find a decent melody
A song that I can sing in my own company
You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And now you can't get out of it
Don't say that later will be better
Now you're stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it
I've been playing with vector art and pixel art in Photoshop. (Pixel art is pretty challenging!! -- I rather draw freehand!) I still don't quite have the hang of it. But I find its pretty helpful in understanding values. I usually will do a charcoal sketch before painting to get the lighting and values down, but actually working with vectors help just as much with colors, light and values. I am working on "The Blues" series of paintings next but I have been stuck in a "lull". I looked at my canvas and instead of seeing colors, I see a black hole.
Tonight, I felt unusually depressed. Played some guitar and then attempted to paint some more, but couldn't. Turned on the radio and "Stuck in a Moment" was on. The lyrics moved me and within seconds, I had photoshop open and started brushing. I just need to get a hold of myself. Two hours later - voila. The things you can accomplish with just a little inspiration. Now, its back to the canvass once again....

The image is great, Aymiee. I think that whatever the medium, your creativity comes out. I'm so envious! But, I'm debating on whether to tell you about the truth behind Michael Hutchence's "suicide." Let me know if you want me to spill the beans.

Becky, please do. I am curious.

Well, apparently he didn't really commit suicide, but it was a total accident. That was his way of getting off -- hanging himself until the point of ALMOST dying, but for this particular occasion, he couldn't save himself. The publicists or whomever was in charge of spinning the news decided to with the suicide story, though it was supposedly well-known among the celebrity circle he was in to that stuff.

Becky.. I had no idea!! You sure its not one of those urban legends alleging Richard Gere of sexual activities with a gerbil? I saw a movie once called CRASH... James Spader and Holly Hunter -- sexual fetishes with famous auto crashes. And then there was this foreign film I once saw, can't remember the name, about the same similiar incident that you spoke of -- while in the act, she accidently suffocates him and ends up keeping his male counterpart as a memento.

I absolutely adored Michael Hutchence and INXS!!! I still do. It was very sad day when the world lost him. Interesting spin on it Becky.
What you play guitar too??? Geez women...please tell me that you are really clumsy, or can't cook to save your life, or something. LOL j/k, I'm just jealous.

Sharron.. I'm extremely CLUMSY!!! My most embarrasing moment was working at Taco Bell in my high school years and my girlfriend's boyfriend and friend came into Taco Bell. I was sweeping the floor when she told me to come and say Hello. I set the broom down and it fell, but I didn't hear it falling and ended up tripping on the broom. Fell flat down on my butt. Those things seem to happen a lot to me...

I think this should just be a blog ring of the three of us or something... what do you gals think? Anyway, I heard the story from people within the "industry" when I was in L.A. for a photo shoot and I've seen it mentioned in other media forms, but it's fairly discreet. Now, if only I could remember what they said about that gerbil story. I guess it's hard to say, you know -- because who would be the one to publicly confirm either one, right?
